Description

Āmio means to circle around, to travel, to return again. This name was chosen to honour both the form of this taonga and the journey it represents.

Carved as a smooth, round kahotea pounamu disc measuring 5cm in diameter, Āmio symbolises continuity, connection, and the paths that lead us away from home — and back again. The circular form speaks to whānau, whakapapa, and the unbroken bonds we carry with us wherever life takes us.

The pendant is finished with a hand-lashed, three-plait cord, designed for strength and balance. Each cord measures 30cm, allowing the taonga to sit comfortably and meaningfully close to the heart.

Āmio is a piece for those who move through the world while keeping their roots close — a reminder that no matter how far we travel, we are always connected to where we come from.

Design

Design Kōrero | Aho Collective

Each Aho Collective piece is thoughtfully designed to honour strength, connection, and everyday wear.

Our jewellery is crafted using high-quality stainless steel, chosen for its durability, hypoallergenic properties, and resistance to tarnishing. This makes our pieces suitable for daily wear while maintaining their form and finish over time.

Where included, pounamu is used with care and intention. Pounamu is a taonga within te ao Māori, valued for its strength, mana, and deep cultural significance. Each stone is unique in colour and pattern, reflecting its natural origin. No two pieces are the same.

Together, these materials represent balance — modern durability paired with ancestral significance — creating jewellery that carries both story and presence.
